The Montgomery Catholic 2018-2019 cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track teams have celebrated many key successes this season. In the fall, the boys and girls cross country teams both took home the state championship trophy. The Lady Knights went on to outclass the competition and won the state championship during the winter in indoor track and during the spring in outdoor track. The girls track team and their coaches, Ed Wright, Hollis Johnson, and Coy Hunter, were invited to City Hall to be publicly recognized by Mayor Todd Strange before the city council meeting on the evening of Tuesday, June 4, 2019. One by one, the champions were called to the floor, congratulated on their individual performances, and given a certificate of recognition from the mayor.

Montgomery Catholic Cross Country Coach Ed Wright was selected as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Boys High School Coach of the Year for the state of Alabama for the 2018 cross country season. Coach Wright serves as the head coach for the boys and girls cross country teams at Montgomery Catholic, both of which won the state championship in the 2018 season, and also coaches the indoor and outdoor boys and girls track teams.
