Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School celebrated Varsity Basketball senior Michael Thorp’s 1,000th career point during a pre-game ceremony on Tuesday, January 9th, in the Fr. Patrick Delahunty Gymnasium. On December 28, 2006, Michael Thorp surpassed the 1,000-piont mark for his career. He accomplished this with his first basket of the Knights’ win over Cordova High School in the Shades Mountain Christian Christmas Classic in Hoover, AL. Michael went on to score 28 points in the game.
Michael has been a member of the Montgomery Catholic varsity boys’ team since his freshman year. To this point in his career, he has scored 1,075 points, an average of 11.9 points per game.
Michael also holds the career three-point record at Montgomery Catholic with 170 and has tied Montgomery Catholic’s single-game three-point record of seven.

Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Jimbo Tolbert presented Michael a commemorative basketball signed by his teammates with Michael’s parents, Dean and Sue Marion and James Thorp, by his side.
