Montgomery Catholic’s Track Team had a number of notable performances in the first day of AHSAA Sectional Meet. In the field, Wellington Westendorf made it to State with a third in the Javelin at 126-01. He was also 10th in the Shot. Liam Catoe was 17th in the Long Jump. Hannah Carter was 11th in the discus.
On the track, Savannah Szabo placed 4th in the 400 and qualified for State in 63.65. Lizzie Terino ran 13:18.46 in the 3200 to qualify for State in 4th also. Lizzie Terino and Savannah Szabo then teamed up with Jessica Taff and Alexandra Gilbert to clock 11:18.5 in the 4x800m relay and finished second in that event, qualifing for State.
Brianna McClure ran 19.49 in the 100H to qualify for the finals. Nolan Plate ran 57.01 to take 10th in the 400m. Liam Catoe broke 60 with a 59.98 to take 15th. Walker Catoe ran a very smart race to finish right behind him with a 60.37 time.
Nick Smith’s 12:27 in the 3200m earned him 10th place. He then joined Nolan Plate, Josh Glenboski, and AJ Mayhan to finish 5th in the 3200m Relay in 9:31.61 and advance to the State Meet in that event. The track team is looking forward to a strong finish in sectionals and on to the state finals.
