Laurie Gulley has been named as principal at Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School’s St. Bede Elementary Campus for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Gulley is a 1984 graduate of Montgomery Catholic and attended St. Bede from second through eighth grade. She received a degree in Early Childhood Education from Spring Hill College in 1988 and worked as the Youth Director and Pre-school Teacher at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mobile until 1992.
Gulley served as a third-grade teacher at St. Bede for 16 years before becoming the Assistant Principal in 2008. She will complete the Master’s program in Instructional Leadership at Auburn University at Montgomery later this year.
“My entire life has been about Catholic education and I believe in it whole-heartedly. My Catholic education, from kindergarten through college, has been a tremendous blessing for me personally and I am eager to help provide the gift of a Catholic education for the children in our school.
“I have been so blessed to work under the direction of wonderful mentors, principals, educators, and leaders. I appreciate all of their incredible leadership and guidance over the years. I work with a wonderful staff of dedicated and committed professionals and I am so excited about the opportunity to continue working with them in a new way,” said Gulley.
Gulley replaces Susan Duke, who is leaving after serving as principal for the last two years. Gulley will assume her new duties July 1.
