MONTGOMERY – Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School held a signing ceremony for seniors Caleb McCreary, Jayden Phifer, Josh Hildebrand, and Karson Franklin on National Signing Day at the Montgomery Catholic High School Campus on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
All four Catholic Knight athletes signed letters of intent to play college football.
Caleb McCreary signed his letter of intent to play football at Troy University. McCreary is a 3-time 1st team All-State, 4-time 1st team All-Metro, 4-time 1st team All-Capital City Conference (All-CCC), and player of the year 2023 quarterback. He was a Back of the Year Finalist in 2023, ASWA Top 50 Best Football Players in the State of Alabama, selected to the North/South All-Star Football Game, and is ranked in the top 300 players Nationally by all major recruiting services. McCreary’s career statistics: 295 rushes for 2,607 yards and 39 rushing TDs, 8.8 y/a; 489-826 passing for 9,549 yards and 125 passing TDs, 19.5 y/a; 3 kickoff returns for 95 yards; 8 punt returns for 180 yards; 12,431 all-purpose yards, 164 TDs, 15.8 y/a. McCreary has attended Montgomery Catholic for four years. He is the son of Sawson & Lumon McCreary of Montgomery, AL.
Jayden Phifer signed his letter of intent to play football at Delta State University. Jayden is a 12 All-Metro and All-CCC defensive back. Phifer was selected to play in the North/South All-Star Football Game. Phifer’s career statistics: 61 tackles, 37 solos, 3 TFLs, 5 ints, 4 PDs. He also contributed on offense where he had 8 receptions for 176 yards & 1 TD. Phifer has attended Montgomery Catholic for four years. He is the son of Ykeisha Ross of Montgomery, AL.
Josh Hildebrand signed his letter of intent to play football at Colorado School of Mines. Hildebrand competed in the Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp, where he finished 5th overall nationally for 2024 snappers. He placed 4th in the Hammer Kicking Academy Top 40 event. His average snapping time is .69 seconds. He is a Kohl’s 5-star snapper. Hildebrand has attended Montgomery Catholic for 12 years. He is the son of Keith and Shelley Hildebrand of Montgomery, AL.
Karson Franklin signed his letter of intent to play football at Huntingdon College. Franklin is a 1st team All-CCC offensive lineman. Franklin’s career statistics: 33 career starts, 35 knockdowns, 4 pancakes, allowed 3 sacks, and has a 79% grade for his career. Franklin has attended Montgomery Catholic for 12 years. He is the son of Kerry and Ann Marie Franklin of Montgomery, AL.
