The Montgomery Catholic varsity boys golf team finished second in the AHSAA Class 3A, Section I tournament Monday (4-28) at Lagoon Park. Thomas Sutton fired a 73, the low Class 3A score of the day, to earn medialist honors.
Butler Parker had a 78, Scott Barranco an 81 and Jacob Stinson an 83 for a team total of 315, just six shots behind tournament winner Montgomery Academy.
The Knight’s strong finish qualifies them for the Class 3A Sub-State tournament May 5 at Cottonwood Golf Club. The top three teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team will earn a berth in the Class 3A state tournament May 12-13 at The Shoals (RTJ course) near Muscle Shoals.
