The Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School Knights defeated Barbour County 3-0 (25-18,25-21,25-22) to capture the Class 3A, Area 4 Tournament championship Thursday night October 18, 2012 at Father Pat Delahunty Memorial Gymnasium.
The Knights continued their run through area play as they won 15 out of 16 sets against the likes of Barbour County, Pike County and Abbeville.
With the area tournament championship, to go along with their regular season area title, the Knights advance to the South Super Regional at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex beginning Friday, October 26.
Montgomery Catholic will face the runner-up of Area 8, which was being played in Montevallo Thursday night.
Earlier in the day, Montgomery Catholic defeated Pike County 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-10) in the opener of the Class 3A, Area 4 Tournament inside Father Pat Delahunty Memorial Gymnasium Thursday afternoon.
